Hummer EV Review
Hail to the king!
When it comes to the king of off-roaders, the GMC Hummer for 2025 surely fits the moniker! Big and wide, yet with the keen ability to negotiate obstacles with ease, the Hummer EV and all its features both on and off-road, are surely worth noting! With unbelievable acceleration, all-out comfort and the added touch of removable roof panels to embrace the open air feel, the EV surely makes a larger-than-life statement. See what this powerhouse has in store!
Here’s more….
At a glance!
A whopping five tons of supertruck is found here, with the GMC Hummer EV presented as a massive, 1,000-horsepower pickup unlike anything found in today’s market. Second in uniqueness and flair only to the Tesla Cybertruck, the Hummer boasts an Extreme Off-Road package, complete with supplemental underbelly protection, locking differentials, more camera angles, 35-inch mud-terrain tires and upgraded axles.
Its Watts to Freedom, or WTF, mode truly transforms the truck into an impressive dragster, resulting in jump from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. It boasts a range of 311 miles in the two-motor configuration and a maximum of 381 miles when assisted by three motors.
Heading into the 2025 model year, GMC has given consumers the choice of two added colors, Solar Orange and Graphite Blue Metallic, making this stand-out monster truck stand out all the more!
Its price starts at $98,845 and jumps to $106,945 depending on trims and options. Higher price options double the horsepower as well as utilizes the Watts to Freedom launch-control mode.
EPA estimates that the tri-motor models with the standard battery and 22-inch wheels have a 314-mile range, but with a new optional extended-range battery, that range jumps to 381 miles.
What else we know!
In terms of power, the Hummer E Pickup is presented with either two or three electric motors, both of which come with all-wheel-drive. The dual motor setup gives 570 hp, while the tri-motor version comes with 1,000 hp.
While its acceleration is impressive, its braking performance is not so much. In fact, slowing this massive truck to a stop from 70 mph took a whopping 211 feet, and on repeated runs, brake fade was definitely noted.
The Hummer EV’s maximum towing capacity is an impressive 12,000 pounds, but that is only with the dual-motor powertrain. That also exceeds the ratings for the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T, which have ratings of up to 10,000 and 11,000 pounds respectively.
The Hummers with three motors have a towing capacity between 7500 and 8500 pounds.
The Hummer EV Pickup also is available with two battery sizes, including the standard 20-module pack which provides an EPA-estimated driving range of 311 miles for the EV2x and 314 for the EV3x and a 24-module battery that provides 381 miles or range. Those consumers opting for the Off-Road package reduce that range estimate to 359 miles.
A peek inside!
When it comes to cabin comfort and cargo space, a way to visualize what to expect is that the pickup takes the form of a crew-cab truck with a 5-foot-long bed. While the cabin is not as spacious compared to the GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab, the interior can be opened to the elements through optional removable roof panels. This results in a cool T-top-like design which was very popular back in the 1970s-1980s with GM sports and muscle cars. While in place, those panels are similar to a panoramic glass sunroof.
There are also several moon-inspired touches within, including a moon-boot footprint on the dead pedal and speaker grilles that show the Sea of Tranquility.
In the area of infotainment within, a large 13.4-inch display serves as the screen, and there’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel as well. Graphics for the EV’s infotainment interface are courtesy of GMC’s contract with Epic Games, resulting in advanced graphics that are of great visual appeal. There is also a host of connectivity options for today’s drivers, all of which come as standard, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot and GM’s OnStar telematics system.
Other tidbits!
Safety is paramount within the EV, with GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving offered as standard. Other features include lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring.

Also standard in the area of safety are automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode.
The Hummer EV can also crabwalk, or drive diagonally.
It is the big path to an all-electric future, and an efficient one at that! GM’s halo truck serves to convert truck lovers to EV lovers, and has fulfilled its mission! With the on-road maneuverability that is desired, on top of ideal off-road capabilities (it’s pretty much invincible!) and exceptional range, this Hummer is of great appeal.
In an EV future, the Hummer reigns supreme in the area of power, size and towing capabilities. With impressive range and a rugged look and feel, the Hummer EV is a truck-lover’s dream. Hail to the king, and reserve yours today!
