What we know!

Production of the 2024 GMC Hummer SUV has begun at the GM Factory Zero plant in the Detroit area, beginning with Edition 1, with deliveries expected by the end of the first quarter. Already sold out in advance, this model is chock full of features.

Its origins stem from when GM first brought back the Hummer nameplate with the 2022 Hummer EV SUV pickup. Its slightly smaller counterpart, the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV, is a reimagining of sorts of what is considered one of the most iconic American off-roaders in the past century.

The sold out Edition 1 marks the production’s beginning, and comes with a starting price tag of $105,595. It will be built alongside the pickup version of the Hummer at GM’s Factory Zero production facility in the Detroit-Hamtramck area.

Production numbers for the Hummer EV have been increasing since the first units rolled off the line in November, 2021. The EV Pickup is the first style to be produced.

It is anticipated that the GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 will be limited to about 2,500 units. This model boasts standard 22-inch premium wheels, assist steps and floor liners, as well as all-wheel steering.

The Hummer SUV will get its power from two or three electric motors, the EV-2 and the EV-2x with the dual-motor setup generating an estimated 625 hp.The EV-3x and the Edition 1 boast a trio of motors, one in front and two at the rear, with an estimated 830 hp. Torque is roughly estimated at 7,400 and 11,500 lb-ft respectively, with real figures possibly being closer to 1,000 and 1,100.

The Edition 1 is also expected to have a range of 300 miles, with the test version last year hitting just under that estimation, 290 miles in a 75-mph highway range test of the pickup version.

There will be limited color options with the SUV, with Edition 1’s boasting a Moonshot Green Matte, with more colors expected moving forward.

Trim levels!

There are various trim levels associated with the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV, and those include the EV 2, the EV 2X, the EV 3X and the range-topping Edition 1. How they differ is with regards to their powertrain, with the EV 2X equipped with two GM Ultium Drive motors that produce upwards of 625 hp. A 20-module GM Ultium battery provides the electrons, with the GM BT1 platform bringing forth the underpinnings. Pricing kicks off at about $90,395. Production of the SUV 2 trim level has not yet begun.

Featuring GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motor technology with the GM BT1 providing the platform, the new SUV is an offshoot of the electric pickup truck of the same name. At 4.99 meters, the new SUV is 50.8 centimeters shorter, and at 3.22 meters has less wheelbase than its original design.

Also as part of the exciting roll out, the first example of the EV SUV that came off the production line was auctioned off directly, raising $500,000 that was earmarked for the non-profit Tread Lightly, which is dedicated to promoting outdoor recreation through accountability and educational programming.

Kicking off June 23, production begins, with this Hummer SUV already turning heads! Power packed and with trim levels boasting various powertrains, this model is not only highly sought after, but tough enough in every way!
