Legend in the making!

When it comes to special edition trucks with outstanding off-road characteristics atop 40-inch tires, the GMC Sierra Grande Concept Overlanding Rig is truly the exception to the rule! This overloading monster is not only designed to tackle the most extreme in driving situations, but is chock full of equipment that makes is surely capable on any and all trails. See what this concept has in store!

Here’s more….

What we know!

The exterior of this Sierra Grande is one rooted in extra protection that is visible upon first glance! Featured is a stamped steel bumper that is outfitted with a 12,500-pound GM Performance winch, four LED lights and a prototype AEV brush guard. The front bumper, which protects against collisions with forward obstacles, has been supplied by the Sierra’s rugged AT4X AEV Edition as have the steering knuckles, control arms, rear suspension and DSSV dampers.

The exterior is also marked by several stamped steel skid plates which serve to shield the independent front suspension, transfer case and front underbody.

The vehicle rides on AEV Salta XD wheels that are wrapped in 40-inch tires from BF Goodrich. More AEV components are also found on the fender flares that frame these tires. They bear the product name HighMark. The suspension is also marked by an additional 1.5 inches of lift that accommodate these tires, and are also the same rugged parts present in the Sierra AT 4X trim.

This concept at rear is marked by a distinctive look thanks to the replacement of the AEV’s stock bed with an 8-foot aluminum tray bed, which replaces the stock bed and incorporates a vertical spare-tire mount. This also gives the concept at rear a military type look.

At back are also two extra features which is a 9,500 pound rear winch to supplement the 12,500-pound front end winch and a vertical tire carrier inside the tray bed immediately behind the cab. The AEV custom bumper is also featured.

Power is brought forth through a 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine which develops an impressive 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired perfectly with the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to an AEV snorkel lifting, the intake above the thick dust churned while overloading, clean air is supplied to the engine.

A Custom AEV Paint Appearance Package highlights this concept, which adds to its aesthetic and is an example of the future that is to come when it comes to these various off-road truck editions and trims.

In announcing this exciting concept, AEV noted that “the Sierra Grande Concept represents the brand’s creative vision of how the company would further elevate the adventure-ready foundation of the GMC Sierra HD AT4X into a legendary overloading rig.”

While the Sierra Grande is just a concept, it’s possible that something similar could be created. It is important to note that this concept vehicle, though, is a one-off specially built by AEV to illustrate what the future may hold.

This concept is the result of a collaboration between GM and AEV, which began with the last-generation Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison. The two companies also developed the 2024 GMC Canyon AT 4X Edition, Sierra 1500 AT4X AEV Edition and Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition.

With GMC now pushing the AT4X package on its heavy-duty pick ups, the sky is the limit. For drivers wishing to tackle the most extreme terrains, this concept, if enters production, could be their next best choice! See what this legend in the making has in store!
