Its beginnings

First introduced for the 1999 model year and with a name that is derived by the tallest peak in North America, also known as Mount McKinley, the Denali vehicles have an equally high designation, and are firmly rooted in quality. Presented with the first-ever GMC Yukon, the lineup expanded to the Sierra 1500, Sierra Heavy Duty, Canyon, Acadia and Terrain. GMC is now celebrating 25 years of Denali and its legacy is strong heading into the future.

With a commitment to continue to raise the bar year after year, GMC through its Denali has presented not only exceptional craftsmanship but advanced technology and impeccable luxury.

A look inside!

The interior of the Denali through the years is all out sophisticated, yet strong and complete with precision craftsmanship and durability. High-end finishes and top-of-the-line touches like heated and ventilated front seats and unique stitching, as well as authentic wood accents and badging that is exclusive to the Denali and all-out swanky complete the look. Embroidery rounds out the luxurious feel within.

The Denali nameplate, first applied to the range-topping GMC Yukon in 1998 for the 1999 model year, shares some of the same exterior features as the Cadillac Escalade.

The first Yukon Denali featured unique 16-inch polished wheels, a special exhaust and several unique features inside, including leather interior, six-way power seats with heating function, a seven-speaker Bose system and much more. A 5.7L V8 L31 gasoline engine was standard.

Throughout the years, the GMC Denali nameplate would be applied all over the lineup, from 2001 to 2017, and in such vehicles as the GMC Acadia, Sierra,Terrain and more.

Technology is one of the many ways Denali stands out these past 25 years, with thoughtful innovations and the latest in screens, displays and information centers. Drivers that enter their Denali are immediately drawn to the latest technologies as well as the aesthetics linked to pleasing infotainment screens, digital driver information centers, head-up displays and Bose sound system. With the innovative Super Cruise, the industry’s first-ever hands-free driver assistance technology, the Denali truly stands out, allowing for this capability on compatible roads. In addition to that, in the 2024 Sierra 1500 Denali, Sierra HD Denali, Yukon and Yukon X Denali and Canyon Denali, GMC Infotainment Systems are found, as are Google built-in

compatibility that grants access to Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play. All of these elevate the Denali to the higher and higher levels.

Leading design

Iconic is the first word that comes to mind when explaining an iconic design that has spanned the years, a head-turning style that leaves a lasting impression. The Denali has stood out through the years thanks to signature styling cues like chrome accents, signature LED headlamps, larger aluminum and chrome wheels, Denali badging and a sleek signature chrome Denali grille.

The design took an even more advance step with the 2022 model year when GMC took the Denali and made it even greater with the creation of the Denali Ultimate. That has been made available on the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500, Sierra Heavy Duty and Yukon and Yukon XL. Within this Ultimate are stunning features, including a Vader chrome Denali grille, distinctive Vader chrome badging and standard larger machined aluminum wheels. It also boasts the exclusive Alpine Umber interior, which takes the overall aesthetic to new levels! Finishes are supreme inside including full-grade leather with stitching and authentic open-pore Paldao wood accents. This interior pays homage to the inspiration for the name of the trim with a topographical map of Mt. Denali laser-etched and embossed in the wood and leather accents.
