A look at the Principal Player….

More space, upgraded design and more ample technology than ever before? That just about covers it when it comes to the GMC Acadia for 2024. A revamped take on the brand’s popular three-row SUV, larger than the outgoing model and both “truckish” and sporty, the Acadia is all personality – and a brawnier one to boot! See what’s in store in this model year!

Here’s more…

Its size/appearance!

For the 2024 model, the GMC Acadia boasts a larger size than the outgoing model, in specific, 8.4 more inches of wheelbase and 10.6 extra inches of overall length. That is a huge plus to the cargo space, up to 80 percent, as well as an addition of 27 percent more second-row legroom. Due to this increase in size, the Acadia more closely aligns with the GMC Sierra pickup.

This size also lines the Acadia up closer to the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse, with GMC also tackling more design work to differentiate the Acadia from this close relative.

In terms of presence, a tall, truck-like grille gives the Acadia a strong look, with C-shaped LED lights also adding character. At the side, the chunky C-pillar is hidden from sight but the D-pillar is expanded. This provides a better view for third-row passengers as well as serves to obscure the cargo area from onlookers.

At the rear, more LED lighting has been added, as well as quad exhaust tips that derived their inspiration from the C8 Chevy Corvette, complete with a squarish shape.

Inside, the Acadia’s interior is a clear setup from the Traverse, with the main centerpiece the tech interface that is standard on all trims and brought forth in a portrait-oriented 15-inch infotainment screen. It runs both Google Built-in as well as features an 11-inch driver display. In the higher-end Denali, a head-up display is standard. Also inside, a 12-speaker Bose stereo system is standard, but an optional 16-speaker theater system is also available.

Other interior design cues are extremely inviting, with the Denali boasting leather seats with attractive stitching. There is also wood trim and other fine touches, as well as a large center console allowing for convenient storage.

Across the lineup is a seven-passenger layout with second-row captain’s chairs, with the second row extremely roomy thanks to seats that adjust backward and forward. The third row is also fairly large.

Cargo volume is also wonderful, with the area behind the third row checking in at a segment-beating 23.0 cubic feet, with a large underfloor bin as an added bonus. Flattening the third row opens that area up to 57.3 cubic feet and for those who choose to fold all the seats down, they can enjoy a maximum of 97.5 cubic feet.

The Acadia also offers 5,000 pounds worth of towing capacity if needed.

Wheels are 20-inch with 22-inchers as options. Another key option across the Acadia lineup is GM’s hands-free Super Cruise, with drivers having the ability to use this system on about 750,000 miles of compatable roads.

Its power/trim levels!

Under hood, the Acadia shares much with its Chevy platform-mate, including the same new 2.5-liter turbo four that produces 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. It shifts via an eight-speed automatic transmission, with the engine employing the same “ePhaser” to adjust the camshaft on the fly to advance and delay the spark according to power and efficiency needs.

Similar to the Chevy Traverse, the front-wheel-drive Acadia gets 20 miles per gallon in the city, 27 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg combined, or 19/24/21 mpg with all-wheel-drive.

When it comes to trim levels, there’s choices, including the base Elevation trim starting at $43,995 (or $2,000 more for AWD); as well as the more luxurious Denali trim at $55,695 for FWD and $57,695 for AWD). Those opting to off-road can choose the AT4 trim at $51,395 with AWD standard.

All of the Acadias come with the same powertrain and standard all-wheel-drive, plus the Elevation offers all the expected infotainment and driver-assistance tech as standard. Other standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, a power rear liftgate, a wireless smartphone charging pad and heated front seats. A panoramic sunroof is optional.

An attractive three-row SUV, the Acadia and its unique exterior design and large interior space may just be your next best choice. Starting at $43,995 and reclaiming its stake in the three-row mid-size SUV segment, the Acadia has much to offer. From an updated interior to quality technology within, this model, entering its third generation, and its increase in size, makes it undoubtedly a principal player!
