In order to facilitate what is a new and exciting look for the Acadia in 2024, a variety of drive modes are presented, all of which allow you to tailor your vehicle’s performance in direct response to road conditions or your driving preferences! What does that mean for today’s driver? Plenty! Offering up to five drive modes, realized with just a push of a button, the all-new Acadia, one of the biggest models in the segment, gets that much more exciting. Add to a tougher overall exterior appearance all new modes of travel and your next adventure awaits! See what’s in store with each of these modes!
Here’s more…
For 2024, the Acadia is presented with up to five main drive modes. Those include the Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice, Off-Road and Tow/Haul. To activate each of these modes, drivers need only to press the “Mode” buttons located on the instrument panel and positioned to the left of the steering wheel. Once a mode is selected, watch for an indicator that will appear on the instrument cluster and remain on.
A look up close!
Tour: Providing a perfect balance between comfort and handling, this mode is used primarily during normal city and highway driving to provide a smooth ride.
Sport: This mode serves to improve handling and acceleration on dry pavement and is used when road conditions or personal preferences dictate a more controlled response from the vehicle. It works by modifying steering efforts, pedal tuning and engine sound.
Snow/Ice: As the name makes clear, this mode is used to improve acceleration on those snow-covered pesky roads. This mode works by adjusting pedal tuning to optimize traction on slippery surfaces.
Off-Road: This mode is for the adventurers! It is solely used for recreational driving in all-terrain conditions, improving driving at moderate speeds and on grass, dirt, gravel and unpaved or snowy roads. With the accelerator pedal tuned for off-road use, the Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control System are modified for optimal performance.
Tow/Haul: Those needing to pull a heavy load – you’re in luck! The Tow/Haul mode, when active, modifies transmission shifting, suspension tuning, steering effort and Trailer Sway Control. It does so in order to assist in maintaining the desired vehicle speed when driving on downhill grades. For vehicles equipped with AWD drivetrain, this mode also engages AWD.
Other modes include Terrain, which allows you to adjust your vehicle’s shift mapping and traction control, adding automatic braking to maximum performance in varying road or surface conditions; and My Mode, which is a configurable mode programmed through the center stack display. Z Mode and V Mode are dependent on your vehicle and trim level, allowing drivers to choose their preferred propulsion setting in addition to customizing the tuning of the engine shift settings, suspension, steering, exhaust, engine sound, brake feel and PTM.
Track Mode is designed for – you guessed it – the track, or closed racetracks to be exact. When maximum vehicle handling is desired, this is your mode! This works through an adjustment of the accelerator pedal so as to help provide maximum control during spirited driving. Weather mode, similar to snow/ice mode, aims at helping to control wheel speed on slippery road surfaces by adjusting the throttle progression and transmission shift.
Depending on the vehicle, drivers will either utilize a single MODE button or a bank of specific ones.
To better serve you on the road, it is worth noting that the Tour mode is considered the most economical setting and therefore recommended for daily use. Terrain is useful for traveling off road at low speeds, and the Terrain mode provides less back and forth between gas and brake pedals, thus enabling one-pedal driving. AWD mode, if equipped, helps to increase control in situations where the road is covered with water, snow or ice.
