The Mammoth ones are back!

All-new Hummers reborn last year as off-road brands are back in all their power and glory! With easy maneuverability thanks to rear-wheel steering, a nice ride quality and massive EV power, this Hummer, in both the SUV and pick-up varieties, has much to boast about in addition to the fact they are the first all-electric super trucks out there! From a host of new exterior hues to hands-free driving and more, this revolutionary all-electric super truck is all things capable! Starting at $87,000, see the ins and outs of this powerhouse!

Here’s more!

A look inside/out!

Innovation and convenience meld perfectly inside the Hummer EV, beginning with available Lunar Shadow interior in jet black and taupe, complemented by Tech Bronze accents. There is also durable all-weather flooring inside, adding to both the visual and practical appeal. In this model year, the Hummer EV takes the form of a crew cab pick up truck with a 5-foot long bed.

Drivers have the ability to open the interior to the elements via an optional removable roof that  reintroduces a T-topesque popular in GM sports and muscle cars from the 1970s-1980s. When in play, these panels, which unfortunately do cause quite a bit of wind noise, are similar to a tra-ditional panoramic glass sunroof. Also inside are several moon-inspired touches such as a moon-boot footprint on the dead pedal and speaker grills that show the Sea of Tranquility.

All in all, utility beats luxury when it comes to the overall interior feel, and materials are consid-ered of a lower quality than what is expected by EV standards.

Whether a pickup or SUV, the Hummer EV speaks to versatility in its exterior features as well as numerous capabilities. Various elements of these vehicles are engineered to overcome tough terrain, such as the Crabwalk on the models, which allows the vehicle to drive diagonally at low speeds. This helps in traversing tight trails. Extract mode on the SUV and pick-up helps drivers get out of any tight spot with ease. This feature, along with the Adaptive Air Ride Suspension, helps raise the car 6 inches off the ground to get through such tough obstacles as traversing boulders or water.

These vehicles sit on specially engineered 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires, providing optimal balance of on- and off-road performance.

On the outside, specific design elements are found, including distinctive front lighting, a low-tur-ret roof profile, an upright windshield and unique tail lamps. Transparent sky panels round out the unique look and feel.

Massive power!

Power is brought forth through three electric motors that make 1,000 horsepower. In the Hum-mer EV, all-wheel-drive is standard, with the vehicle reaching 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, thanks in

large part to its Watts to Freedom launch control driving mode. While this acceleration is not in-credible, maneuverability at low speeds is better than anticipated, a direct result of the rear-wheel-steering system.

It is outfitted with a massive 205kWh battery, which is good for 350 miles of range.

Braking performance is not lauded, and slowing this massive vehicle down to a stop from 70 mph took an extra-long 211 feet and related runs, thus resulting in notable brake fade.

Its towing capability is also not incredibly notable at 7,500 pounds, which is less than the towing capacity of other EV pickups such as the Evian RIT and the Ford F-150 Lightning, which are rated for 11,000 pounds and 10,000 pounds respectively.

Staying connected!

Within the Hummer for 2023 is a large 13.4-inch display that serves as the infotainment screen. There is also a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel inside, with the interface design graphics made by Epic Games, which GMC contracted with, the same maker as the crazily-popular Fort-nite video game. While the high-resolution screen looked good with its advanced graphics, it has been noted that the system does not have the processing power it needs to keep up with the software’s capabilities, therefore pronounced lag takes place.

The Hummer is presented, though, with a host of connectivity features as standard, including Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capability, a Wi-Fi hotspot and GM’s OnStar telematics system.

The Bose 14-speaker audio system is also notable, and features Centerpoint with the Electric Vehicle Sound Enhancement system. This creates a multi sensory experience designed specifi-cally for the Hummer EV cabins.

Safety first!

There is good news on the safety front, with GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving offered as standard. Also included are lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring. Information about the vehicle’s crash-test results can be found by visiting the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin-istration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety websites.

Other key features presented in these models include: standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection; standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist and stand-ard adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode.

The Hummer, which represents all things big, including size and power, is considered the cor-nerstone of GM’s $27 billion push into EVs that will include the release of 30 brand new vehicles by 2025.

Engineered to conquer any and all terrains, these vehicles boast the benefits linked to pickups and SUVs, plus so much more. Great inside and out, drivers and passengers are sure to enjoy each and every excursion — especially those that take them off road! See what’s in store with this mammoth choice!
